Hanging out at Microsoft's MVP Summit 2011

It has been warm in Jacksonville, Fl. but cold in Bellevue, Wa. I walked off the plane with a nice wet cold climate in my face. I actually like the cold but not the dampness. Good thing though, the content here at Microsoft is HOT. It has been two years since I attended a summit and there is a since of re-kindling. Microsoft does a "class act" of taking care of us and it is always nice to be on the campus. I finally got to hear and see Scott Gu in person and hang out with Matt Winkler from the WF Team. Right now I am sitting in an ALM session that is about to start so more to come later on my adventure...

My Windows Phone 7 == More Productive

It has been a couple of weeks since I purchased my WP7. I decided to get the Focus because of it's bright screen. Quite honest, I have never been this satisified with a phone. Microsoft did a bang up job! Shhhhhh Shhhhhh Shhhhh...<quietly>Now my wife has the IPhone. Most of my friends would say, "If you were the man of the house you would change that!". Well it is not that easy! Anyone else happily married would understand!</quietly>But lately I have been doing some comparisons between the two.Iphone, great if you want to sit around the local Starbucks and look really cool surfing the web while sipping on a sugar drink. Window Phone 7, for when you really need to get business done. "Texting clients...great", "Lost on the road or in the woods...found","talking on the phone and multitask with other programs...easy","navigating the screen with short little hands(if you have them)...feel big". You get the picture, I am impressed. I am more likely to forget to put on my underwear then forget my phone in the morning. It looks cool, does what I want it to do, it is fast and if I was single I bet I would have a ton of hot chicks walking around me just by lifting a windows phone 7 to my ear...Bottom line, Get one!

Presenting at South Florida CodeCamp 2011

Today I will embark on a journey that will keep me in the same State, but take me to a place that is all but familiair to me...South Florida! Why do I say this? No sweet tea! There is something wrong with being in Florida and not being able to purchase sweet tea. However, I am looking forward to presenting on a couple of things that are dear to my heart. My sessions will focus on hosting workflows in Windows App Fabric and architecting solution with Visual Studio 2010. If you get a chance come check out my sessions and a wealth of other sessions. This is Florida's biggest codecamp I believe and some of the best speakers around present at it, so you are bound to learn something just by showing up and saying, "hi". VS2010 Ultimate Modeling

Last night I spoke at JaxDUG's monthly meeting and we had a great turn out. Our venue changed which brought new faces to the meeting. Last night my session focused on the modeling tools that come with VS2010 Ultimate. I showed how easy it is to build different types of models which documents requirements and development without leaving VS2010. I also discussed how the models could generate code using the T4 Templates. Finally I busted out SketchFlow, which is my new best-friend for building wireframes. Using these tools dramatically assists the SDLC and the adoption of them is a must if you are using VS2010....And can get a hold of VS2010 Ultimate:)
